Bundle Studio x Stora Enso

Jacana is a lounge chair developed with support from Stora Enso using NeoLigno®, a lignin-based adhesive developed as an alternative to conventional fossil-based and formaldehyde-containing binders used in wood products and molded plywood construction.

Rather than treating the material as a direct replacement, the project explores how it can influence form, construction and detail. Working with NeoLigno introduced both possibilities and constraints. Unlike conventional clear glues, NeoLigno has a dark brown colour, affecting veneer selection, thickness and edge treatment. Rather than hiding the brown glue line, the chair emphasizes it through chamfered and rounded edges, turning the layered construction into a celebration of moulded plywood and the technique's capabilities.
